Main Duties of the Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a systematic clinical psychology service within a multidisciplinary team. This will involve specialist psychological assessments, evidence-based psychological interventions, teaching, training, and consultation to the multidisciplinary team, as well as service evaluation, audit, and development.

The post requires a qualified clinical psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and with at least 18 months post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, including those with severe and enduring mental health difficulties.

The successful candidate will be part of a larger group of psychologists working in the service and will receive regular supervision from the borough psychology professional lead.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high degree of professionalism, particularly in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems. The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating and implementing plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of clients' mental health problems.

The role also involves risk assessment and risk management for individual clients, as well as providing advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care, and in-patient settings.

They will also have experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course, presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate further specialist training/experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a specialist clinical psychologist over a minimum of 18 months.
