Job Summary:
The Endocrine Specialist Nurse will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality endocrinology care to patients across the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a senior member of the Diabetes and Endocrine Multi-Disciplinary Team, you will provide expert nursing expertise to patients and healthcare professionals, working closely with the Band 7 Endocrine Specialist Nurse to develop and implement service improvements.
Main Responsibilities:- Assess, diagnose, and manage endocrine conditions, including complex patients, in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Order and undertake diagnostic tests, interpreting results and acting upon them to inform patient care.
- Develop and deliver specialist education to nursing, medical, and other healthcare professionals involved in endocrinology care.
- Lead and participate in research projects, audits, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance endocrine care and services.
- Collaborate with primary and secondary care clinicians to ensure seamless care transitions and effective management of endocrine conditions.
- Develop and maintain clinical guidelines, protocols, and standards to ensure evidence-based practice.
- Provide expert advice and support to patients, carers, and relatives on endocrine-related conditions and treatment options.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of service improvements, working closely with the MDT and other stakeholders.
- RGN with current NMC registration.
- Degree (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in endocrinology and service development.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and provide written reports.
- Intermediate IT skills in word processing and spreadsheets.
