Job Overview
Newsquest newspaper publishers, a leading regional media company in the UK, is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their team at the Weymouth printing centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong background knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, with proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Conduct regular maintenance checks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical issues as they arise.
- Preventive Maintenance: Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks according to established PPM schedules to prevent equipment failures and minimize downtime.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to track equipment performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Communication: Collaborate effectively with other departments to address maintenance needs promptly and ensure seamless operations.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations during all maintenance activities to safeguard employees and maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience in a similar role, demonstrating expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, with a strong understanding of logic controllers and their applications in maintenance tasks.
- Qualifications: A time-served apprenticeship supported by relevant formal qualifications, such as those in electrical or mechanical engineering, is highly desirable.
