Job Title: 3D AutoCAD Design Manager

Join our team as a 3D AutoCAD Design Manager and take on a challenging role in managing design teams for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead our design teams in delivering high-quality design solutions for our clients. As a 3D AutoCAD Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design delivery programme, ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage design teams to deliver design solutions on schedule and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and make appropriate CDM appointments.
  • Promote safety, environmental best practice, and sustainability through design.
  • Produce design plans and briefs, and manage contracts with external design consultants.
  • Support Estimators and Project Managers in producing and managing design and budget schedules.
  • Implement change control processes to track and manage design development.
  • Lead internal and external design reviews.
  • Support supply chain selection for specialist input on design.
  • Collaborate with technical, operational, maintenance, and strategic stakeholders, and design coordinators.
  • Liaise with Engineering Managers, Project Managers, and consultants on project issues, scope changes, and risks.
Audit and Governance
  • Ensure the Code of Conduct is understood, adhered to, and promoted through design.
  • Take personal responsibility and accountability for actions, striving to improve and exceed expectations.

Person Specification
  • Minimum 10 years of design and management experience
  • Experience in design management of water and wastewater infrastructure, including pipelines, hydraulics, and MEICA
  • Working knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and common data environments
  • Degree/HNC qualified, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering
  • Member of a recognized engineering professional body
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and staff
  • Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook
  • People management, time management, project design management
  • Temporary Works: Understanding of what encompasses Temporary Works and the supporting engineering, understanding of the types of temporary works designs available and what responsibilities the associated roles (designer/coordinator/contractor) have and engagement of internal and external temporary works designers.
