Ecologist Principal Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Ecologist Principal to join our dynamic Nature team at AECOM. As a key member of our Ecology team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the environment and delivering exceptional ecological services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage ecological surveys, licensing, and impact assessments for various projects, including rail, energy, and water sectors.
  • Develop and implement effective project plans, ensuring timely delivery and budget control.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality ecological consultancy and advisory services to internal and external clients.
  • Support the development of technically robust and pragmatic solutions to complex ecological issues.
  • Author and technically check project deliverables, including ecology chapters for environmental statements and protected species licence applications.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in leading and managing ecological surveys, licensing, and impact assessments.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in budget control and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of wildlife conservation and ecology, with a focus on at least one major habitat type or species.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution, with evidence of working towards Chartership (e.g., CIEEM).
  • A full driving licence and willingness to travel to other locations on company business.
