Role Overview

As a Principal Ecologist, you will be part of our Environmental team, working on a wide range of projects that aim to protect our natural environment and water resources. Your expertise will be essential in helping us power our world for future generations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of projects, ensuring timely completion, budgetary control, and adherence to SHEQ targets.
  • Provide technical advice and direction on ecological aspects of client relationships, ensuring delivery exceeds client expectations.
  • Develop and implement ecological strategies, including protected species, pollution, surface water, and materials management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects that meet time, budget, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to the development of business growth strategies, identifying new opportunities and partnerships.

Requirements

  • Detailed knowledge of ecological principles, biodiversity metrics, and relevant environmental and ecological impact assessment legislation, policy, and guidance.
  • In-depth knowledge of particular plant or animal groups and appropriate field survey skills.
  • Proven track record in writing and delivering Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), and Ecology Chapters for Environmental Statements.
  • Excellent commercial and project management skills for a range of project sizes.
  • Proven experience of bid production for a range of projects and client interaction.
  • Ability to line manage and potentially lead a team.
  • Hold survey and/or mitigation/conservation licenses.
  • Chartered Environmentalist/Ecologist (or demonstrably approaching Chartered Ecologist).
  • Full member of CIEEM.
