About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a Scientist with a PhD in RNA Biology or a BSc/MSc with industry experience in molecular or cellular biology, ideally with a focus on RNA research. As a Scientist within our RNA team, you will be responsible for conducting a wide range of molecular biology-based experiments in relation to synthetic DNA, mRNA synthesis, and gene expression.
Key Responsibilities- Conducting molecular biology-based experiments in relation to synthetic DNA, mRNA synthesis, and gene expression.
- Supporting synthetic DNA and RNA projects for external collaborators and internal R&D projects.
- Optimising the DNA to in vitro RNA conversion process and subsequent RNA purification.
- Conducting cell-based assays (luciferase/reporter assays) to evaluate immune response to RNA.
- Planning, refining, and executing experiments that align with overall project plans.
- Working individually and collaboratively within the R&D teams.
- Participating in departmental meetings and development meetings.
- Maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date records of experiments and data/results.
- PhD in molecular or cellular biology with elements of RNA research (essential) or equivalent experience.
- Expertise in several molecular biology techniques, including capillary electrophoresis, polyacrylamide electrophoresis, RNA quantification, DNA quantification, flow cytometry, and ELISA (essential).
- Experience in cell reporter assays (luciferase, B-galactosidase, or GFP) and cell transfection (desired).
- Experience in troubleshooting and developing laboratory protocols (desired).
- Excellent communication skills (essential).
- Existing right to work in the UK (essential).
