Senior Radioactive Waste Expert

About the Role:
As a Senior Radioactive Waste Consultant, you will play a key role in driving innovation within the nuclear industry and tackling the unique challenges it faces in securing a sustainable future. You will apply your technical expertise, skills, and knowledge of the nuclear sector on a wide range of projects covering the entire nuclear lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Recent key projects that AtkinsRéalis consultants have been involved in include:
- Aiding in detailed design of new Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technologies, considering waste and future decommissioning at the initial design stage.
- Supporting legacy decommissioning sites, devising solutions to a vast range of radioactive waste problems.
- Providing expert input on siting, permissions, and waste acceptance criteria for the UK's Geological Disposal Facility (GDF).
- Deploying expertise to the next generation fleet of UK reactors.
- Supporting the UK's nuclear deterrent system, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
- Undertaking research and waste management projects into new fusion-related technologies.
Desirable Skills and Qualities:
This role is ideal for individuals with:
- A degree qualification in a scientific or engineering subject or significant technical expertise in a relevant field.
- Relevant experience in the nuclear industry or other relevant high-hazard field (e.g., oil & gas, defence, aerospace, etc.).
