Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel Permanent Workforce Team is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work directly with students aged 6 to 19 who have a range of MLD and SLD needs, including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and associated difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with their learning, development, and progress in all areas of the curriculum, including the classroom, local environment, and community.
  • Help young people with a range of needs, including PMLD, complex medical conditions, and autism, to achieve their educational and personal goals.
  • Develop a supportive environment that fosters equality, diversity, and the rights of all young people to be seen as learners and treated with respect.
  • Place an emphasis on support and empowerment of young people, developing a greater understanding of Special Education issues and demonstrating the values of Aurora in all aspects of the role.
Requirements:
  • Willingness and ability to work towards getting formal qualifications, attend training, and take responsibility for your own development, with all costs fully funded by Teaching Personnel.
  • Passion and compassion for children and young people with additional needs.
  • Ambition and determination to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Lover of the outdoor and community learning.
  • Ability to see potential rather than disability.
