Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join our team in Portsmouth. As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with challenging behaviour, helping them to engage in their learning and achieve their full potential.

About the Role

This is a full-time, term-time only position, working with a variety of schools in Portsmouth. The ideal candidate will be resilient, committed, and have a positive attitude to supporting students with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support teachers and pupils in maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Help students to engage in their learning and develop positive relationships with peers and staff
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to develop and implement behaviour support plans
  • Provide individualised support to students with challenging behaviour, using positive behaviour management techniques
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture
Requirements
  • Experience working with students with challenging behaviour, preferably in a SEMH setting
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • DBS clearance and right to work in the UK
