NHS Practice Nurse Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our dynamic team in the NHS. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse with primary care experience to work in a supportive environment, delivering high-quality nursing services to our patients.
About the RoleThis full-time position involves working around 20 hours a week, excluding Tuesdays, during the surgery's opening hours. One of the shifts must be a late shift ending at 6 pm. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in primary care, with a focus on patient-centered care and chronic disease management.
- The practice nurse will provide nursing services to the practice population, supporting patients to achieve healthy lifestyles and monitoring those with long-term conditions.
- Implement and evaluate treatment plans for patients with chronic diseases, including but not limited to:
- Taking and testing pathology samples from patients for analysis (blood, sputum, urine, etc)
- Care for patients with uncomplicated wounds, including removal of sutures, wound assessment, wound cleaning and dressing, management of burns and scalds, ulcer care, and more
- Implement and participate in vaccination and immunization programs, routine immunizations, and where qualified, prescribe medication within their areas of competence
We require a registered nurse with a post-graduate diploma or degree in primary care, Non-medical prescriber, and minimum 2 years of experience in a NHS GP Practice. You should have excellent communication skills, empathy, and a can-do attitude. Experience in infection prevention and control measures, travel consultations, EMIS X knowledge, and Smear Taker Code with HPV update are also essential.
