The Luxury Subbing Hub produces four of the country's most refined and polished publications: Elle, Elle Decoration, Esquire, and Harper's Bazaar. The close-knit team coordinates seamlessly with all departments to ensure the high-quality accuracy and vibrant tone of these esteemed brands.

About the Role

You will be part of a dynamic team as one of three Content Editors on the Luxury Subbing Hub, responsible for editing content for the four magazines, proof-reading, second reading, and signing off pages. You will also assist Deputy Chief Editors and Chief Editors in overseeing the subbing and production process of all pages, from copy stage through to sending pages to press.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Edit raw copy and design layouts for all pages of ELLE, ELLE Decoration, Esquire, and Harper's Bazaar magazines.
  • Verify facts, spelling, and grammar.
  • Create compelling display copy consistent with house styles.
  • Edit any additional editorial or commercial content arising during the production cycle.
  • Ensure pages meet the brands' high standards in terms of tone and accuracy, upholding the unique voices and contributing to their evolution.
  • Send layouts for legal checks when necessary.
  • Flag issues to the Chief Editor regarding copy or layouts.
  • Liaise with Marketing, Digital, and Subscriptions departments over relevant pages to guarantee they meet requirements.
  • Second-read edited layouts on proof.
  • Assist with final reads, sign off pages, and proofing.
  • Promote Hearst UK and its values.
  • You may be required to undertake further duties as your skills, qualifications, and experience allow and/or as assigned to you from time to time.

Estimated Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.

About You

To succeed in this role, you should possess excellent accuracy and attention to detail. You'll be organized, calm under pressure, and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously. An exceptional problem solver and team player with good initiative is essential.
