We are seeking an experienced plant-based engineer to join Liberty's Stocksbridge facility. In this role, you will promote continuous improvement efforts in creating value and driving sustainable outcomes.

The Role of the Electrical Section Engineer

  • Reporting to the Department Engineer, you will lead the engineering function within your area.
  • You will engage with your team and internal/external technical specialists to provide engineering input to support and improve operations.
  • You will drive, monitor, and maintain the engineering blueprint in accordance with change and design control procedures.
  • You will ensure all plant and people operate within and comply with Liberty Speciality Steels (LSS) policy and statutory Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
  • You will ensure statutory and LSS requirements are met for all assets within the department.
  • You will determine, monitor, and control engineering resources and materials needed to satisfy operational requirements.
  • You will devise and develop planned maintenance and inspection schedules.
  • You will provide technical and engineering expertise to production and quality managers.
  • You will identify and assist in the preparation of development opportunities, resulting in continuous enhancement of engineering and production performance.
  • You will assist in the training and continuous development of a multi-discipline engineering team.
  • You will lead and coordinate investigations, identify root cause, and implement solutions to any problems occurring within your area of responsibility.
  • You will monitor and drive KPIs for your area of responsibility.

Requirements of the Electrical Section Engineer

  • You are a performance-oriented professional with leadership potential, motivated by exceeding expectations and providing excellent results.
  • You have the ability to react swiftly and think ahead to develop and improve assets in your area.
  • You have a background in plant engineering and maintenance, making you well-placed for the challenges of this role.
  • You have an Electrical Engineering qualification (HNC or higher) and experience with three-phase systems, AC and DC equipment, and ideally PLC experience of GEM, Allen-Bradley, and Siemens systems.
  • You have experience and knowledge of Remelt facilities, including VAR, VIM, ESR, and Heat Treatment Furnaces.
  • You have detailed knowledge of complex processes, associated machinery, and control systems.
  • You have well-developed communication and relationship-building skills and an ability to work with various stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • You have an understanding of risk management.
  • You have strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions.
  • You have experience with a CMMS.

This is a day shift role, Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm.
