About the Role

We are seeking an experienced plant-based engineer to join our team at Liberty's Stocksbridge facility. As a key member of our engineering function, you will play a crucial role in promoting continuous improvement efforts and driving sustainable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering function within your area, engaging with your team and internal/external technical specialists to provide engineering input and support.
  • Drive, monitor, and maintain the engineering blueprint in accordance with change and design control procedures.
  • Work effectively across various stakeholders to ensure optimal outcomes for the business.
  • Ensure all plant and people operate within and comply with Liberty Speciality Steels (LSS) policy and statutory Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
  • Determine, monitor, and control engineering resources and materials needed to satisfy operational requirements.
  • Devise and develop planned maintenance and inspection schedules.
  • Provide technical and engineering expertise to production and quality managers.
  • Identify and assist in the preparation of development opportunities, resulting in continuous enhancement of engineering and production performance.
  • Assist in the training and continuous development of a multi-discipline engineering team.
  • Lead and coordinate investigations, identify root cause, and implement solutions to problems occurring within your area of responsibility.
  • Monitor and drive KPIs for your area of responsibility.
Requirements
  • Performance and achievement-oriented professional with leadership potential.
  • Ability to react swiftly and think ahead to develop and improve assets in your area.
  • Previous background in plant engineering and maintenance.
  • Educational background in Electrical Engineering (HNC or higher).
  • Plant engineering experience with three-phase systems, AC and DC equipment, and ideally PLC experience of GEM, Allen-Bradley, and Siemens systems.
  • Experience and knowledge of Remelt facilities, including VAR, VIM, ESR, and Heat Treatment Furnaces.
  • Detailed knowledge of complex processes, associated machinery, and control systems.
  • Well-developed communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of risk management.
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with a CMMS.
