Urban Planning Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Urban Planning Specialist to join our Planning team in Edinburgh. The role will provide an opportunity to work on varied projects, primarily in the renewables sector, providing rich experience in town planning across Northern Ireland and Scotland.
The successful candidate will have a passion for planning, development, and environmental issues, with a good working knowledge of planning policy and a keen eye on emerging planning policy.
The role will involve managing and overseeing client projects from commencement to completion, ensuring delivery is achieved to target. The successful candidate will also be responsible for mentoring and evidence where appropriate, and will actively link between Technical Directors/Directors and the wider team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Planning Directors in successfully delivering their planning caseload
- Directly engage in business development initiatives
- Actively support Senior Planners, Planners, Assistant Planners, and Graduates
- Take a lead role in preparing bid proposals and supporting colleagues with tender submissions
- Assist in public consultations with preparatory materials and represent RPS at public events in support of client proposals
- Attend and monitor committee and other hearings
Requirements:
- Fully qualified RTPI chartered town planner
- Substantive planning experience in the renewables sector (wind, solar, BESS etc)
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a corporate environment
- Passion for planning, development, and environmental issues
- Good working knowledge of planning policy
- Keen eye on emerging planning policy
- Strategic thinker and problem solver
- Market awareness and good understanding of local planning issues
