Job Title: Band 4 Therapy Support Worker

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Band 4 Therapy Support Worker to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients, identifying potential complications and contraindications, and referring back to registered practitioners when necessary. Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to plan safe discharge and organize follow-up treatment.
  2. Treatment Implementation: Use clinical reasoning skills to develop and evaluate treatment plans, implementing and progressing treatment programs to promote physical independence. Instruct patients on functional exercises and assess/issue equipment for daily living activities.
  3. Communication and Collaboration: Provide a collaborative assessment and treatment approach, reducing repetition of information and ensuring a seamless rehabilitation pathway. Exercise autonomy in managing the caseload, making decisions about work allocation to other staff.
  4. Patient Education and Empowerment: Use verbal and non-verbal communication tools effectively with patients/carers, including education, motivation, and empowerment. Monitor and report progress and changes in patients' conditions to ensure safety and achievement of agreed goals.
  5. Supervision and Training: Supervise less experienced support workers, including appraisal and training, and take a lead role in the induction of new staff. Contribute to the training program in the clinical area.
  6. Continuing Professional Development: Participate in own continuing professional development to ensure competency and meet clinical governance agendas. Undertake administrative and housekeeping tasks to support the Therapy team.
  7. Health and Safety: Prepare the clinical area and patient for safe and effective treatments, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and Infection Control standards.
  8. Weekend Working: Participate in the weekend working rota where applicable, following a period of induction, training, and assessment.
  9. Compliance: Comply with Trust and Departmental policies and procedures, including demonstrating compliance with safeguarding policies and undergoing regular mandatory training.
