Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Therapy Support Worker to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Therapy team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of our rehabilitation services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assessment and Treatment Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients to identify their needs and develop effective treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  2. Implementation and Progression of Treatment: Implement and progress treatment programs to promote physical and functional independence, including instructing patients on functional exercises and assessing and issuing equipment for activities of daily living.
  3. Communication and Collaboration: Use verbal and non-verbal communication tools effectively with patients and carers, including education, motivation, and empowerment. Monitor and report progress and changes in patients' conditions to ensure safety and achievement of agreed goals.
  4. Supervision and Training: Supervise less experienced support workers, including appraisal and training, and take a lead role in the induction of new staff. Contribute to the training program in the clinical area.
  5. Continuing Professional Development: Participate in own continuing professional development to ensure competency and meet clinical governance agendas. Undertake administrative and housekeeping tasks to support the Therapy team.
  6. Health and Safety: Prepare the clinical area and the patient for safe and effective treatments in a clean environment, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and Infection Control standards.
  7. Weekend Working: Participate in the weekend working rota where applicable, following a period of induction, training, and assessment.
  8. Compliance: Comply with Trust and Departmental policies and procedures, including demonstrating compliance with safeguarding policies and undergoing regular mandatory training.
