Senior Gardener Position at The National Trust

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled senior gardener to join our team at The National Trust's Wimpole Estate. As a senior gardener, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Walled Garden and contributing to the maintenance and development of the entire garden.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of staff and volunteers to ensure the garden is well-maintained and presented to the highest standards.
- Oversee the management of the Walled Garden, including planning, budgeting, and implementing projects to improve the garden's appearance and functionality.
- Collaborate with the Head Gardener and other team members to develop and implement strategies for the garden's development and improvement.
- Motivate and inspire the team to achieve their best work, providing training and guidance as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to visitors, answering questions and sharing knowledge about the garden and its history.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in horticulture, with a strong background in garden management and maintenance.
- Ability to supervise and motivate a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of plants, gardening techniques, and garden machinery, including chainsaws, tractors, hedge-trimmers, and mowers.
- Awareness of health and safety legislation and practices, with the ability to implement and maintain safe working practices.
