About the Role

Acorns Children's Hospice Trust is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Young Person Worker to join our Family Services Teams in our Walsall Hospice. As a key member of our team, you will be an advocate for young people, championing their needs and supporting them in their preparation for adulthood.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic-based support to young people, helping them to cope with loss and bereavement.
  • Develop and deliver programs of activity that meet the needs of young people, promoting their emotional and psychological well-being.
  • Work closely with our young people, listening to their goals and aspirations, and helping them to prepare for adulthood and transition.
  • Contribute to the development of services for young people, assisting in the delivery of training programs and participating in outreach work.
  • Collaborate with our Young Person Workers in other hospices to share best practice and meet organisational objectives.

About You

  • Professional qualification in a field such as Social Work, Community Nursing, Youth Work, Counselling, or Play Therapy.
  • Experience of providing therapeutic-based support to young people, with a focus on bereavement and loss counselling.
  • Ability to travel independently around the Acorns region and work flexible hours to meet the needs of young people.

  • A competitive salary of £27,000 to £37,000 per annum (pro rata), plus allowances.
