Job Summary:

The Medical Research Council is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Divisional Administrator Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our Division, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations, and contributing to the success of our research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage routine office administration, including scheduling, correspondence, and record-keeping.
  • Manage and prioritize your own workload with minimal supervision, ensuring timely completion of tasks and maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Make decisions within established guidelines and procedures, exercising discretion and judgment when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of administrative processes and procedures, identifying opportunities for improvement and suggesting innovative solutions.

Requirements:

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including minimum Grade C in Mathematics and English.
  • Some administrative experience, preferably in a busy office, laboratory, or clinical environment.
  • Proficiency in standard office packages, including Microsoft Office, email, and online ordering systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and flexible attitude.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Formal Microsoft Office training or IT qualification (e.g., ECDL, CLAIT).
  • Experience of using Adobe Creative Suite and Customer Relationship Management systems.
  • Experience of sharing and developing new ideas to improve current ways of working.

  • Ability to interact with multiple teams in an organized and diligent manner.
  • Proactive and flexible attitude, with a keen ability to improve current ways of working.

Working Relationships:

  • Report to the Neurobiology DA.
  • Interact, advise, and assist the Neurobiology HoDs, other administrative staff, external visitors, and with some external teams.
