Office Support Specialist

Job Summary:
The Medical Research Council is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Divisional Administrator Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our Division, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations, and contributing to the success of our research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage routine office administration, including scheduling, correspondence, and record-keeping.
- Manage and prioritize your own workload with minimal supervision, ensuring timely completion of tasks and maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Make decisions within established guidelines and procedures, exercising discretion and judgment when necessary.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners, providing exceptional customer service and support.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of administrative processes and procedures, identifying opportunities for improvement and suggesting innovative solutions.
Requirements:
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including minimum Grade C in Mathematics and English.
- Some administrative experience, preferably in a busy office, laboratory, or clinical environment.
- Proficiency in standard office packages, including Microsoft Office, email, and online ordering systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and flexible attitude.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Formal Microsoft Office training or IT qualification (e.g., ECDL, CLAIT).
- Experience of using Adobe Creative Suite and Customer Relationship Management systems.
- Experience of sharing and developing new ideas to improve current ways of working.

- Ability to interact with multiple teams in an organized and diligent manner.
- Proactive and flexible attitude, with a keen ability to improve current ways of working.
Working Relationships:
- Report to the Neurobiology DA.
- Interact, advise, and assist the Neurobiology HoDs, other administrative staff, external visitors, and with some external teams.
