Business Rate Recovery and Council Tax Collection Opportunity

We are seeking enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals to join our Revenue Services Department as Business Rate Collectors and Council Tax Recovery Officers. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in helping the Council maximise its income to provide essential services to its residents and businesses.

About the Role

As a Business Rate Collector or Council Tax Recovery Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all types of collection and enforcement activity in relation to business rates and council tax is carried out accurately and in a timely manner. This will involve dealing with large volumes of correspondence and communication with ratepayers, businesses, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recover business rates and council tax arrears through effective communication and negotiation with ratepayers and businesses
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and performance targets
  • Work closely with the council tax and business rate billing teams, as well as external stakeholders such as enforcement agents
  • Assist ratepayers and businesses in making arrangements to pay and deal with liability enquiries

Requirements

We are looking for individuals with excellent communication, administrative, and organisational skills to manage their busy and varied workload. Previous experience in a revenues environment and knowledge of local government income sources are desirable. A sound understanding of the billing and collection process is essential.
