The Role: Business Rates Tax Director

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Rates Tax Director to establish and lead a best-in-class London Rating Team. This is a unique opportunity to build a new service line within our expanding tax offering.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic business plan for the London Rating Team, focusing on both Landlord and Occupier instructions related to the Check Challenge Appeal process for the 2023 revaluation.
  • Build and manage a team of rating professionals, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Generate new business opportunities by actively networking and collaborating with colleagues across various service lines within Evelyn Partners.
  • Provide expert advice on business rates matters, including Check Challenge Appeals, Empty Rates Mitigation Strategies, and Valuation Tribunal proceedings.
  • Stay abreast of the latest changes in government rating legislation and case law to ensure clients receive up-to-date guidance.

Qualifications:

  • MRICS/IRRV qualified status with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Proven track record of success in business rates consultancy, including managing complex cases and attending Valuation Tribunal hearings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret rating legislation and apply it to real-world situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
