Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Community Engagement Specialist to join our team as a Public Health Outreach Coordinator. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about community development, empowerment, and social justice.

About the Role

This is a 9-month fixed-term contract position, working approximately 18 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for building strong relationships with community members and leaders, co-creating events and resources to raise awareness and encourage cancer screening participation.

The role involves facilitating workshops to help communities understand healthcare services and collaborating with local organisations to ensure lasting impact. You will also be responsible for collecting feedback from community activities, documenting all events, and sharing insights across teams to report on outcomes and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with community members, local organisations, and stakeholders.
  • Develop understanding and cultural awareness of communities, and the barriers they face to accessing healthcare.
  • Identify and reach out to underrepresented and marginalised individuals and groups, to encourage their participation in co-production activities.
  • Facilitate open, inclusive conversations and workshops to understand community needs, ideas, and perspectives.
Requirements
  • Educated to NVQ Level 3, Advanced level, or equivalent qualifications with demonstrable commitment to professional and personal development.
  • Formal training or education in community development work (e.g., ABCD Framework)
  • Proven working experience in group facilitation, community engagement, outreach, or similar roles.
  • Experience working with diverse, underserved, or marginalised communities.

  • A competitive salary range of £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
