About the Role

Screwfix Direct Limited is seeking a highly skilled Trading Manager to join our team. As a key member of our buying team, you will be responsible for driving sales and profitability targets for your category.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Sales and Profitability Targets: Develop and execute a strategic trading plan to achieve sales and profitability targets for your category.
  • Category Strategy Development: Create a 2-year category strategy with market and customer insights to inform trading plans.
  • Trading Plan Execution: Propose and execute a 12-month trading plan, negotiating promotional support with suppliers.
  • Market Awareness: Maintain competitive awareness and use market insights to inform trading plans.
  • Range Management: Manage range changes and execute exit strategies where necessary.
  • Presentation and Communication: Prepare and deliver presentations to secure business support and engagement.
  • Financial Planning: Participate in financial budgeting and forecasting activities.

Requirements
  • Experience: Experience in retail trading, buying, or a similar role.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of commercial concepts and customer focus.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to manage strategic sales, understand seasonality, and analyze financial reports.
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent presentation and project management skills.
