Food Service Manager for Care Homes

We are seeking an experienced Food Service Manager to join our team at St Monica Trust. As a key member of our care home team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day food and drinks provision in your allocated care home.
About the RoleThe ideal candidate will have a strong background in catering, with experience of supervising others and managing a kitchen environment. You will work closely with our care home general managers to ensure quality, planning and timings, consistency, and compliance in relation to modified diets and care/nutrition needs.
You will be responsible for planning menus, preparing food, and managing supplies to ensure that residents receive a high-quality dining experience. Your role will also involve engaging residents with food, offering more choice and flexible timings, and encouraging participation in activities such as cake decorating and food demonstrations.
Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day food and drinks provision in your allocated care home
- Plan and prepare menus to meet the needs and preferences of residents
- Work closely with care home general managers to ensure quality, planning and timings, consistency, and compliance
- Engage residents with food, offer more choice and flexible timings, and encourage participation in activities
- Line manage Senior Hospitality Assistants, including recruitment, absence management, and performance
- Monitor and manage food waste disposal, and general catering/kitchen hygiene and cleanliness
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Diploma Level 2 in Food Production/Catering (or equivalent)
- Experience of supervising others and managing a kitchen environment
- Knowledge of special dietary requirements/modified diets, advising on nutrition, hydration, and dietary needs
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
As a Food Service Manager with St Monica Trust, you will contribute to providing individualised care through a nutritious diet, meeting the necessities of residents. You will work in a supportive team environment, with training and development opportunities available.
