Occupational Therapist

We are seeking an experienced Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our inpatient dementia assessment and treatment unit, Ruskin, based at the Carleton Clinic in Carlisle.
Ruskin is a 15-bed unit that provides a comprehensive and holistic assessment of older individuals' physical, psychological, behavioral, social, and spiritual needs through validated assessment tools and multidisciplinary working.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and manage a caseload of service users with complex Occupational Therapy needs, diverse presentations, and a range of mental health, physical health, neurological conditions, cognitive, and/or learning disabilities.
- Develop collaborative intervention plans with service users and carers, ensuring regular reviews to monitor progress and adapt as necessary.
- Consider carer needs and involve carers and family in care planning where appropriate.
- Deliver evidence-based Occupational therapy interventions.
- Work as a member of the Multi-disciplinary Team to ensure high-quality individualized care, safety, and a commitment to promoting recovery and wellbeing and maximizing independence.
- Coordinate treatment planning, interventions, reviews, and discharge planning.
- Provide clinical supervision and leadership to staff as delegated by Clinical Lead.
- Provide compassionate care based on empathy, kindness, respect, and dignity.
- Incorporate a client-centered philosophy into clinical practice and client-centered collaborative care.

Person Specification- Recognized Occupational Therapy degree/qualification.
- HCPC Registration.
- Evidence of post-registration training in OT interventions relevant to the post.
- Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, HCPC, and RCOT standards and other local and national initiatives.
- Proven track record of post-registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience of providing Occupational Therapy services.
- Awareness of equal opportunities legislation and policies.
- Experience of collaborative working across agencies and professional disciplines.
- Proven ability to manage a clinical caseload in a flexible manner as required.
- Experience of supervising students/non-registered staff.
