Job Title: Social Worker

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide direct social work services to vulnerable citizens, working in accordance with statute, national, and regional policies and guidelines.
  2. Develop effective relationships with colleagues, private and voluntary sector organizations, and health services to deliver an integrated response to meeting need.
  3. Build strong partnerships with citizens, families, and carers to identify and meet needs, ensuring the rights of the individual are safeguarded.
  4. Ensure timely completion of assessments and reviews, using person-centered planning approaches to support citizen participation.
  5. Respond to safeguarding concerns, carrying out POVA investigations and risk assessments as required.
  6. Contribute to the preparation and presentation of reports and plans at POVA Strategy meetings.
  7. Work in partnership with Community Wellbeing services to develop knowledge and awareness of available interventions.
  8. Maintain professional accountability for resource allocation, ensuring compliance with service criteria, legislation, and regulations.
  9. Provide an early and effective response to concerns or complaints from citizens or other agencies.
  10. Support citizens and their carers/families to actively participate in service development.
  11. Prepare for and contribute effectively to meetings, chairing meetings as required.
  12. Prepare written reports for various purposes, ensuring accuracy, coherence, and completeness.
  13. Attend team meetings and contribute to service development.
  14. Maintain a specific caseload of varied complexity, using research, theory, and evidence-based practice to achieve good outcomes.
  15. Maintain good recording practices, ensuring records are accurate, coherent, and up-to-date.
  16. Ensure casework is effectively planned and outcome-focused, with citizens, families, and carers fully represented.
  17. Ensure timely completion of tasks and respond promptly to communications.
  18. Promote anti-discriminatory practices and act in a non-oppressive way towards service users, carers, and colleagues.
  19. Provide a positive role model in relation to conduct within the workplace, exercising responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  20. Assist with the duty system and undertake backup duties as required.
  21. Transport/accompany citizens to appointments, as appropriate, following risk assessment.
Professional Development:
  1. Maintain professional registration and comply with post-registration training and learning requirements.
  2. Prepare for and participate in professional supervision and performance development reviews.
  3. Attend training and seminars to develop personal and professional expertise, disseminating knowledge and learning to colleagues as appropriate.
Corporate Responsibilities:
  1. Establish good working relationships internally and externally.
  2. Comply with the Authority's Policies and Procedures, reporting any inadequacies to Senior Officers.
  3. Participate actively in supporting the Authority's principles and practices of equality of opportunity.
  4. Apply Health & Safety practices within daily operations, sharing responsibility for Health & Safety across the department, directorate, and Authority.
  5. Provide information for personnel, administrative, and payroll purposes.
  6. Undertake any other reasonable task, as determined by your Line Manager or Head of Service.
  7. Be aware of the Corporate Safeguarding Policy and report concerns in the appropriate manner and timescales.
