About the Role

This entry-level procurement position is an exciting opportunity to join a best-in-class organization. As a Procurement and Supply Chain Officer, you'll work closely with the Head of Operational Procurement in Edinburgh College, covering a wide range of supply chain activities, including:

  • Processing electronic purchase orders;
  • Optimising and maintaining college procurement and related systems;
  • Supporting end-users to secure quotes within college thresholds;
  • Assisting the team with low-value/low-risk tender processes;
  • Providing advice and guidance on college contracts and national procurement framework agreements;
  • Contract administration;
  • Procurement and P2P system training for end-users.

Edinburgh College is a fast-paced and exciting environment, with a diverse tendering pipeline covering estates, ICT, professional services, and more. Our procurement team is well-regarded within the college, and we've provided a shared service here since 2011.

As one of the largest colleges in the UK, Edinburgh College supports over 25,000 students from around 97 countries, offering around 700 courses across 32 subject areas. We work closely with over 1,800 industry partners to secure employment opportunities for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders and promote APUC as a source of expert guidance and support;
  • Process electronic purchase orders and optimise college procurement systems;
  • Support end-users in securing quotes within college thresholds and assist with tender processes;
  • Provide advice and guidance on college contracts and national procurement framework agreements;
  • Administer contracts and provide procurement training for end-users;
  • Contribute to the development of procurement strategies and initiatives;
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to achieve shared goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Effective customer management skills and attention to detail;
  • High intellectual calibre and strong ethical standards;
  • Studying towards or prepared to study towards Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply;
  • Strong influencing power and ability to build relationships with stakeholders;
  • Conversant with generic legal aspects of supply chain management.
