Financial Operations Manager

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Finance professional to join our small finance team at Sharp Consultancy in York. The successful candidate will have previous experience of day-to-day processing of accounting transactions across all ledgers, as well as an understanding of compliance with relevant charity and company regulations.

The ideal candidate will have proven recent experience in financial management, preparing management accounts and costing/budget information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable and data entry tasks.
  • Manage aged debt and general credit control.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • E nsure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Conduct regular audits of financial processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Support the team in pulling together management accounts information.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Post quarterly journals accurately.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial legislation and best practices.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Prior experience working in the charitable sector is highly valued.
  • A background in all-round accounts roles up to trial balance level is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Effective relationship-building skills to support budget holders with costings for grant and other income streams.
  • Good attention to detail and IT skills are essential for this role.

The estimated salary for this position is £37,500 - £42,000 per annum, depending on experience.
