Service Engineer - Automation Solutions

Certain Advantage is seeking a skilled Service Engineer to join our team in Suffolk. This is a permanent role that offers a competitive annual salary and good benefits.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide technical support to our customers throughout the life of their equipment, from commissioning to installation and beyond. This will involve site-based work, remote diagnostics, and ongoing support to ensure a positive experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to our customers, including remote diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Support the after-sales team with technical queries and issues
  • Responsible for supporting customers' service contracts, including pre-service visits and electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic tasks
  • Assist with training and growth of service engineers
  • Programme and modify control systems using PLCs, Servo drives, Robots, and other specialized controllers
  • Troubleshoot and adjust mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and controls equipment
  • Fault finding and operational assessment of mechanisms

Requirements

  • Relevant vocational training or completion of an Apprenticeship in Electrical or Mechanical discipline
  • Qualifications in Engineering and/or 5 years' experience in an electrical or mechanical environment
  • Proven experience in the Automation industry, with a focus on electrical, pneumatic, or mechanical systems
  • 4+ years' experience in programming programmable PLCs and human-machine interfaces
  • Knowledge of setting up Servos, VFDs, Remote I/O, Earth net, and Profibus networks
  • Knowledge of 6 Axis robot systems is preferred
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Comprehensive knowledge of diagnostics, test, and repair of electronic/electrical and mechanical systems
