Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to lead our pharmacy service in surgical areas. This is a fixed-term arrangement for 12 months, based in Glangwili General Hospital.
The successful candidate will join a well-established team of pharmacy staff providing care to various medical and surgical specialties. As the interim Lead Pharmacist, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering a patient-focused clinical pharmacy service.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in the development of new services, such as prehabilitation, and provide support to the critical care unit when necessary.
This role is situated in a busy District General Hospital with approximately 420 beds. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable, but not essential.
About the Role
As a Clinical Pharmacist Lead, you will be part of our friendly and passionate pharmacy team. You will contribute to the implementation of medicines optimization, striving for excellence in patient care and safety.
You will provide a specialist and professional service, working together with the multi-disciplinary surgical team. You will also be involved in the education and training of pharmacy colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and deliver a patient-focused clinical pharmacy service in surgical areas
Develop and implement new services, such as prehabilitation
Provide support to the critical care unit when necessary
Work with the multi-disciplinary surgical team to provide a specialist and professional service
Contribute to the education and training of pharmacy colleagues and other healthcare professionals
Requirements
Masters degree in Pharmacy
Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Postgraduate MSc or Diploma in area of practice or equivalent experience or qualifications
Desirable
Accredited Pre-registration tutor or pharmacy diploma tutor
Independent prescriber
Aseptic Preparation and Dispensing of Medicines (Leeds University) or equivalent if role includes aseptics
Registered as QC if role includes aseptics
Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Language Requirements
Welsh speaker - level 1
Other
Flexible approach to needs of the service to undertake on-call work, weekend and evening opening
Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner
