Workshop Manager Job Description

Type: Permanent

Location: Surrey

Working Hours: Days Shifts - Monday to Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

Salary: Circa £46,000 per annum + Benefits

Are you an experienced workshop manager within the heat treatment industry?

My client is a leading manufacturer within the heat treatment industry. They are currently looking for a skilled workshop manager with a vast knowledge of the heat treatment industry to lead a team and help move a small, family-run business forward.

The Role - Workshop Manager:
  1. Manage a team of 3 to ensure customer requirements are met
  2. Plan, communicate, and execute a production schedule
  3. Prepare equipment such as vacuum furnaces and ensure production settings are accurate
  4. Some hands-on work within the factory such as loading, and unloading furnaces when it suits business needs
  5. Manage works orders using the production system and ensure costs are recorded accurately
  6. Some customer management such as communicating when work will be completed and providing some technical input into sales quotes or new jobs
  7. Work with internal stakeholders to achieve the levels of quality required within the industry
  8. Work with the line manager and sales manager to drive the business forward in terms of sales and efficiencies
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Workshop Manager
  1. Experience working within the heat treatment industry
  2. 3-5 years of experience working with metals
  3. Worked in a production manufacturing environment
  4. Experience of working within and delivering to a quality management standard (minimum to ISO 9001)
  5. Some understanding of reading engineering drawings, projections, and tolerances
  6. Excellent communication skills must be able to relay information internally & externally
  7. Strong organisational skills with an attention to detail and a focused approach to work
  8. Proficient in IT skills and use of ERP systems
  9. Relevant team leader or supervisory experience
  10. Self-driven team player possessing good interpersonal skills
The Package - Workshop Manager
  1. Starting salary up to £46,000 per annum
  2. Discretionary yearly bonus based on company performance
