About the Role

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to work as Teaching Assistants in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) schools across Hampshire.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity for those with a passion for supporting students with additional needs and making a difference in their educational journey.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both teachers and students within the classroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to students with a range of SEND needs, helping them engage with lessons and activities.
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation, classroom management, and the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support pupils with their social and emotional development, helping them to manage any challenges that arise during the school day.
  • Use appropriate strategies to manage challenging behavior and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, following school policies and safeguarding procedures.
Requirements
  • Experience working with SEND students: Prior experience in an SEND or similar environment is preferred, as you will be working with students who require specialized support to meet their educational and developmental needs.
  • Patience and empathy: You should possess a nurturing and understanding nature, as students with SEND often require additional emotional and social support.
  • Flexibility and adaptability: The ability to adapt to different situations and settings is key, as you may be required to work in various schools across Hampshire, covering staff absences and other vacancies.
  • Location: You should be able to travel to or live in the following key areas: Southampton, Winchester, Basingstoke, and Portsmouth.
