About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist school near Reigate. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and be committed to building strong relationships with students and staff.

The students we support range in age from 10 to 16 and face a range of challenges including trauma, anxiety, OCD, and behavioural issues. As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing emotional support and guidance to help students overcome these challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs in a classroom setting
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students and staff
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized support plans

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Knowledge of mental health principles and practices
