Postdoctoral Research Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join our team in the School of Mathematical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London. The successful candidate will work on a large project funded by the EPSRC, bridging the gap between topology and deep learning by investigating how stochastic topological tools can be developed and used to systematically analyse, interpret, and improve the performance of deep neural networks.
About the SchoolThe School of Mathematical Sciences is a world-renowned institution with a strong research presence across the spectrum of Mathematical Sciences. We are part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, which comprises five schools and two institutes. Our student population has grown in recent years within the UK and overseas, and our research profile has strengthened considerably.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research in topology and deep learning, developing stochastic topological tools to analyse and improve deep neural networks.
- Collaborate with researchers at other universities in the hub, as well as attend workshops and conferences.
- Contribute to the development of the project, including designing and implementing new methods and tools.
- Communicate research findings through publications and presentations.
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD degree in mathematics or a related area, or equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will have expertise in at least one of the areas: machine learning, applied topology, and/or probability theory.
