About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our team at BT Group. As a key member of our Professional Services unit, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Delivery: Collaborate with our implementation teams to ensure seamless change deployment into the live network, leveraging automation and CI/CD pipelines to drive efficiency and quality.
  • Network Monitoring: Design and maintain monitoring solutions, including Elastic search and Apache Kafka, to guarantee the health and performance of our systems and network.
  • Automation Tools: Utilize tools like Ansible to provision and manage infrastructure resources in a scalable and efficient manner.
  • Technical Acumen: Apply your expertise in network principles to troubleshoot network faults and optimize performance, security, and scalability across our infrastructure.
  • Incident Management and Resolution: Provide third-line technical resolution for a wide range of technologies, supporting a 365x24/7 callout.
  • Customer Focus: Serve as a technical expert, understanding the end-to-end customer journey and delivering solutions that meet their needs.
  • Growth and Development: Contribute to the growth and development of the team, enhancing the brand and supporting colleagues to perform at their best.
Requirements
  • Incident response and resolution expertise.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and associated tools, such as GitLab CI.
  • Sysadmin/server management/compute experience.
  • Software deployment to various infrastructure, including Virtual Machines, Routers, Switches, and Servers.
  • Understanding of network fundamentals, including common network protocols (BGP, IS-IS, etc).
  • Experience with monitoring and logging solutions, such as Elastic search, Apache Kafka, and Prometheus.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python.
  • A self-driven attitude towards learning new skills and aiding the development of others.
