Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Paediatric Emergency Consultant to join our team at NHS Scotland. The successful candidate will have expertise in emergency medicine, with a focus on paediatric care, and will work closely with our experienced team of consultants and medical staff.

The role involves ensuring the delivery of clinical care to all acutely injured and unwell children who attend our Emergency Department, acting as team leader for the in-hospital Paediatric Emergency Team, leading the hospital Major Trauma Team, and supporting the delivery of national and local performance and quality standards.

We are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated individual who can contribute to the supervision and training of non-consultant staff, doctors in training, nursing staff, AHPs, and undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the delivery of clinical care to all acutely injured and unwell children who attend the Emergency Department
  • Acting as team leader for the in-hospital Paediatric Emergency Team

  • Supporting the delivery of national and local performance and quality standards
  • Contributing to the supervision and training of non-consultant staff, doctors in training, nursing staff, AHPs, and undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh
