About the Role

The post will require the applicant to coordinate and support the isotope and brachytherapy practice in Radiotherapy at UCLH. Both practices are large and innovative with an expanding paediatric and adult workload. Some research and data inputting may be required.

Main Duties
  • Co-ordinate and support the isotope and brachytherapy practice in Radiotherapy at UCLH.
  • Take responsibility for the training of junior staff rotating through the department.
  • Carry out vaginal vault insertions and train others in this field.
  • Co-ordinate theatre sessions and be accountable for the maintenance and QA of equipment.

Person Specification

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • BSc in therapeutic radiography or equivalent formal qualification.
  • Health Profession Council (HPC) registration as a therapy or nuclear medicine radiographer.

Experience

  • Relevant post-registration experience in the same specialty.
  • Practical experience in planning and delivering a wide range of radiotherapy techniques.

Communication

  • Provide information and support about cancer, and communicate highly distressing, sensitive information to patients and relatives/carers.

Skills & Abilities

  • Provide specialist clinical training and undertake presentations, both within the dept and nationally in conferences and workshops.
  • Work flexibly in a variety of situations and participate in shift work as required.
