Education and SEN Lawyer Role

Barnsley Council is seeking an experienced Education and SEN Lawyer to join their team. As an Education and SEN Lawyer, you will be responsible for handling a caseload of SEND matters, dealing with SEND tribunals, and providing general education law advice to client departments and schools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handling a caseload of SEND matters.
  • Dealing with SEND tribunals.
  • Drafting local authority responses, position statements, casework, and collating final evidence.
  • Drafting witness statements.
  • Chairing legal planning and pre-hearing meetings.
  • Providing general education law advice to client departments and schools.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive.
  • Some understanding and experience of SEND is essential.
