The Bishops Caundle Community Shop is a community-owned and run village store offering a wide range of food and household staples. The purpose of the shop is to serve and meet the needs of the local community while generating a modest profit that can be utilized in three ways:
- Allow a healthy reserve to be held in place to pay for unforeseen shop-related expenses
- Allow investment in improving the operation and facilities of the shop itself
- Allow investment in other community-focused projects
The overall business of the shop is overseen by a Management Committee comprised of locals from professional backgrounds who volunteer their time to ensure that the shop is run efficiently, ethically, and sustainably while meeting the above objectives.
The day-to-day operation of the shop is overseen by a Shop Manager who reports to and works closely with the Committee.
We are seeking a Shop Manager to replace the existing Manager who is moving into a different industry.
Working alongside a part-time employee, our enthusiastic volunteers, and with the support of a Management Committee, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of a truly social enterprise. Your commitment and aspirations for the role in the community will need to be balanced with the need for successful commercial performance.
As a Shop Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the business, stock control, and financial management. Previous retail experience is essential, although training and guidance will be provided on the specifics of the shop's operation.
