Social Companion for Young Man with Visual Impairment

About the RoleWe are seeking a reliable and caring individual to provide companionship and support to our 23-year-old son, Asher, who has a visual impairment and is non-verbal. As a Social Personal Assistant, you will be responsible for building a positive relationship with Asher and engaging him in activities that he enjoys.
Asher is a friendly and easy-going young man who loves going to the cinema, watching action movies, and listening to music. He also enjoys going for walks, trying new foods, and exploring the city centre. As his companion, you will need to be flexible and willing to try new things with him.
Key Responsibilities- Provide companionship and support to Asher on a regular basis
- Engage Asher in activities that he enjoys, such as going to the cinema, watching movies, and listening to music
- Assist Asher with daily tasks and activities, as needed
- Respect Asher's independence and autonomy, while also ensuring his safety and well-being
- Communicate effectively with Asher using signs and gestures, as he is non-verbal
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, understanding, and empathy when working with individuals with disabilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and willingness to try new things
- Basic knowledge of sign language and communication methods for individuals with visual impairments
