The successful candidate will have all-round fieldwork and post-excavation skills, experience of supervising teams in multi-period archaeological fieldwork and post-excavation, and a broad knowledge of British archaeology and the heritage sector.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and delivering the Field School and other field classes
  • Supporting the management of post-excavation tasks generated by field school activity
  • Delivering undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in fieldwork, post-excavation, and employability
  • Managing staff employed to support Field School activities

The ideal candidate will have a PhD or equivalent professional experience in Archaeology or a closely related subject, and good team leadership and pastoral skills.

The Department of Archaeology is part of the School of Archaeology, Geography and Environmental Science (SAGES), and the University of Reading is committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce.
