Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmology Consultant to join our team at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients and contributing to the clinical and managerial leadership of the Ophthalmology service.

Main Duties

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Support the provision of General Ophthalmology with a subspecialty interest complementary to the existing consultants
  • Deliver outpatient clinics and day case surgery
  • Urgent and Emergency Care duties, including out-of-hours on-call, with schedules taking due account of working time regulations and safe working
  • Core Supporting Professional Activities will be offered to the successful candidate, with appropriate objectives agreed in accordance with the Trust Framework and national Terms and Conditions of Service

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the job plan
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within six months of receipt of CCT at the time of interview
  • Completed Fellowship Training
  • Success in Intercollegiate Specialty Examination or equivalent
  • Extensive practical ophthalmic experience, including emergency Ophthalmic patients
