### Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cryogenics Engineer to join our team at the UK Atomic Energy Authority. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in the design of cryogenic systems for our STEP prototype fusion powerplant.

### Key Responsibilities

* Develop and validate P&IDs and numerical models for cryogenic systems
* Conduct heat load analysis and mass flow modeling
* Ensure robust documentation, including technical notes and reports
* Collaborate with industry partners and the wider cryogenics sector on innovative developments
* Supervise junior engineers or students
* Manage significant contracts and vendor relationships
* Engage with partnering organizations
* Prepare papers for journals and conferences, present at seminars and conferences

### Qualifications

* Degree or equivalent in Cryogenic, Mechanical, or Process Engineering, or equivalent STEM subject
* Significant experience in cryogenics, either in a laboratory or industrial setting
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills
* Solid understanding of modern standards in Quality Assurance, Safety, Health, and the Environment
* Demonstrable ability to work and communicate with a multi-disciplinary team
* Proven capability in engineering analysis and a good working knowledge of engineering materials and their properties
* Experience with relevant environmental factors such as plasmas, vacuum, and transient magnetic fields
