The Colocation Design Standards Team at Amazon UK Services Ltd. is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Design Standards Engineer to lead the development and implementation of global standards for fire protection in colocation data centers.

About the Job

This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive consistency and efficiency in fire protection design and deployment across AWS's global colocation fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain global consistent colocation design standards to ensure equivalent resilience in colocation data centers as AWS owned sites.
  • Work with our global colocation partners to drive consistent solutions, expedite review processes, and enhance cost efficiency.
  • Set up global strategies to deploy specific products or designs, and drive key global colocation initiatives.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or an equivalent engineering degree with at least 5 years of additional qualifying experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering or the construction industry related to all aspects of fire protection, including fire suppression systems, fire alarm and detection systems, fire-resistive construction, and life safety.
  • 3+ years of fire engineering experience in data centers, preferably in colocation facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience authoring standards, white papers, technical documentation, training materials, Code Modification Requests (CMRs), and Alternate Materials and Methods (AMM) proposals.
  • Licensed Fire Protection Engineer with knowledge of BS, ICC Codes, NFPA Standards, FM Global requirements, and other fire protection industry standards.
