We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our team at Ashford and St Peters NHS Foundation Trust. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a hospital and community setting.

Our ideal candidate will be patient-focused, energetic, and enjoy working as part of a team. They will have effective communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Full training will be provided, so no previous healthcare experience is required.

The successful candidate will be committed to providing high standards of customer care and ensuring the provision of quality samples with minimum discomfort to the patient. They will also be responsible for participating in the delivery and maintenance of an efficient Phlebotomy service.

Main Responsibilities

Key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the delivery and maintenance of an efficient Phlebotomy service.
  • Carrying out venepuncture capillary sampling on patients and children.
  • Demonstrating professionalism, honesty, and integrity in all matters of a confidential nature.
  • Attending mandatory training and continuing education courses as required.

General responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the department and organisation by carrying out any other duties that reasonably fit within the broad scope of a job of this grade and type of work.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working in a busy environment.
  • Empathetic and caring nature.
  • Familiarity with computers.
  • Ability to push trolleys, stand for periods of time.
  • Good level of general education.
  • Ability to work in pressured environments.
  • Ability to work hours advertised.
  • Displays empathy and a passion for caring.
  • Ability to work shifts between times specified.
  • Able to walk distances, push trolleys, and move stock.
