Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the ward manager in the overall running of the Cancer Assessment Unit, including implementing changes and supporting the wider team. This will involve rota writing, QSIS investigation, appraisals, and carrying the 902 bleep for division.

Key duties will include administering chemotherapy, coordinating and communicating with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, safe, and kind care for patients. The role will also involve working on a vibrant hospital campus with a friendly community feel, with excellent facilities to practice skills and abilities.

The ideal candidate will have significant post-registration experience within an oncology/haematology setting, with experience as a team leader and within an acute clinical area. They will possess advanced assessment skills and knowledge, as well as experience of triage or acute care.

The successful candidate will be expected to work a range of shifts to cover the service, including weekends, and will be required to hold the fire bleep as appropriate.

Person Specification

  • Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Diploma or equivalent or relevant post-qualification Oncology or Haematology courses
  • Relevant teaching and assessing / mentoring course or willingness to undertake
  • Advanced communication course
