SEND Teaching Assistant Role in Croydon

We are excited to be recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to support Secondary School pupils from Years 7 to 11 who have been diagnosed or are presenting traits of ASC and ADHD.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work under the direction of the SENCO to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching of pupils with special educational needs. Your role will involve encouraging the participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school and enabling pupils to become more independent learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of quality learning and teaching of pupils with special educational needs
  • Encourage the participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school
  • Enable pupils to become more independent learners
  • Work with children and young people who have a range of additional and often complex SEND
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a degree and be able to showcase strong attainment across GCSE and A-Level. You will also need to have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, staff, and parents/carers. A flexible and adaptable approach to both work and to the behaviours of students is essential, as is a good understanding of the way children learn and previous knowledge of ASC and ADHD.

Full training and inductions will be available to new SEND Teaching Assistants, along with consistent support throughout the academic year.
