Job Summary
Vodafone UK is seeking a highly skilled Privacy Legal Counsel to join our Corporate team. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide expert advice on data protection and privacy matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide contractual and bid support as a subject matter expert to the UK legal team, including negotiations on contractual terms with customers and suppliers.
- Monitor regulatory/legislative developments and draft and update company policies, processes, and precedents as required.
- Draft risk papers, report risks and issues to senior management as required, and appropriately record risks.
- Advise on the implementation of privacy baseline requirements into new products and services, with a focus on privacy risk, and identify mitigations and assist with the privacy risk management process across a diverse range of matters.
- Assist with the continued implementation of Vodafone's GDPR compliance programme into business as usual processes, identifying and advising on data processing activities to ensure risks are managed and they are subject to suitable controls.
- Be a trusted advisor and enabler for supporting business objectives against the privacy regulatory landscape, innovating new approaches and ways of advising on business projects that maintain high levels of GDPR compliance while enabling the business to meet objectives.
Requirements
- Excellent level of general legal knowledge, with experience in contract negotiation and commercial advice preferred.
- Expertise and experience in telecoms regulatory/data protection and privacy issues not essential, but must demonstrate an interest and willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to persuade at the highest levels of the organisation, delivering concise and clear advice and training according to the audience.
- High-quality drafting skills with the ability to convey complex arguments in a clear and effective manner to business stakeholders.
- Ability to work with other members of the legal team to develop ideas and arguments internally, self-sufficient and able to prioritise effectively and manage own time.
- Excellent ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and knowledge to streamline advice, and willingness to lead improvement projects and knowledge sharing across the team and wider business.
- Solicitor, barrister, or legal executive practising in either private practice or in an in-house role.
- Desirable technical/professional quals: CIPP/e.
