The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Manager/Co-ordinator to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for the coordination and approval of all construction drawings and information to ensure they meet our budgets and clients' requirements.

The successful candidate will have a relevant construction or architectural qualification and previous experience in an equivalent or similar role within the construction industry. They will have good knowledge of the design process and construction design stages with a main contractor, as well as technical knowledge and the ability to use design and project management software.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build design team rapport, negotiation, motivational and analytical skills. They will have a good understanding of key design principles such as fire and acoustic requirements, and knowledge of current building regulations, SAP calculations and their impact on design.

The Design Manager/Co-ordinator will be responsible for:

  1. Liaising with the Land & Planning Manager at integral stages of the Planning submissions.
  2. Identifying, appointing and managing external design teams to meet the project brief and ensure the design programs are achieved.
  3. Appointing and co-ordinating all relevant testing and reports to assist in the completion of designs and planning.
  4. Knowledge and experience in production of CSHSP.
  5. Liaising with all stakeholders in the project to ensure all information is provided at required stages.
  6. Organising, participating and recording design review meetings.
  7. Liaising with the commercial team to ensure the designs are within the project budget.
  8. Co-ordinating the planning submission & discharge of conditions.
  9. Reviewing and managing the flow of information to ensure all technical details are incorporated into design.
  10. Researching and exploring different design options to improve build quality and explore potential value engineering options for better performance on quality & cost.
  11. Reviewing of design and construction information to ensure it complies with the client requirements.
  12. Managing and co-ordinating Section Agreements process.
  13. Understanding the duties for client, principal designer and designers under CDM regulations & building regulations.
  14. Integrated Management System (IMS): adhering to requirements, procedures and policies.
  15. Liaising with the construction teams at the handover of a scheme from pre-construction to onsite and ensure all relevant and key information is distributed to the construction team.
Requirements:
  1. Relevant construction or architectural qualification.
  2. Previous experience in an equivalent or similar role within the construction industry.
  3. Good knowledge of the design process and construction design stages with a main contractor.
  4. Technical knowledge and the ability to use design and project management software.
